Microsoft’s recently discovered vulnerabilities, collectively referred to as ‘Nimbuspwn’, could allow attackers to elevate privileges to root level privileges (the highest level privileges e.g., administrator) on many Linux desktops. Attackers can then leverage the vulnerabilities to deploy malware or carry out other malicious activities. This new Spotlight lab will show you the technicalities behind these vulnerabilities, examine the networkd-dispatcher’s execution flow and the full attack flow, as well as discuss mitigation procedures.
